NIDS Development Services was established in 1994. It has a strong human rights profile, with a main focus on application of HRBA, civil society capacity development and democracy and human rights, with particular focus on gender equality, children’s rights and the rights of persons with disabilities and LGBTI persons.

NIDS has carried out HRBA benchmarking and analyses of both organisations and programs. NIDS has, in cooperation with MSC, worked as Sida Help Desk on HRBA in support of the Swedish Embassies in Sub-Saharan Africa, including preparation of a web-based tool on HRBA.

NIDS is participating in the Sida framework contract on  Democracy, Public Administration and Human Rights  and the Sida framework contract on Reviews and Evaluations – both led by Niras AB.
